I had no idea what to expect with this. To be honest, I don't drink so I don't really know what whiskey tastes like. There is no actual alcohol in these, I don't believe at least. There's none listed on the ingredients list. These are not overly sweet at all, just a tad. They're pretty tart though. When we first opened it, my ten year old said, "whoa, that smells like medicine." After trying them, she still thinks they taste like "strawberry medicine." I have no idea where she got that - I don't taste strawberry, artificial or not. I can kind of see how she might think they taste mediciney. It's thicker, syrupy taste. But she did go back for seconds and thirds, so it didn't stop her. This cherries were good! They come in a thick plastic jar (maybe glass?) and are dark in color. There are plenty of cherries packed in the jar, and the dark color makes them look like authentic cherries. The syrup is thick and the cherries do have added sugar/flavoring; whiskey is noticeable but not strong. The most polarizing aspect of these cherries: even though they look like authentic dark cherries, these have a strong amaretto taste, which can be polarizing. It's a flavor I didn't use to like that much but it's grown on me.Overall, I recommend these cherries. My husband loves to make smoked manhattans and has used a number of different types of cherries, from regular old Maraschinos (not great) to Luxardo and other more intensely-flavored cherries (unquestionably better), to gourmet-flavored ones (some are great, some are weird).Amarena cherries have been his favorite so far, and he has really been taken with these whiskey-flavored ones that echo the main ingredient and turn a Manhattan into a more sublime experience. I imagine they would be great in other whiskey-based craft cocktails as well. It's also really fun to have these on hand for guests who always want to know what kind of cherries they are. This is a very rich and flavorful treat- and a very costly one, at almost a dollar an ounce. I had a spoonful one a bowl of granola and yogurt, and it definitely added a lot, transforming an ordinary breakfast dish into a dessert. It’s a bit expensive for my tastes, but if you can afford to spend $15 on a jar of cherries, this is definitely one to consider.I was pleasantly surprised by these cherries. Great flavor and a unique garnish for food and drinks. Now, if you are looking for a straightforward sweet, maraschino cherry this is not it. This has a very complex, slightly dark flavor profile with mild notes of whiskey. It probably won't work for everything, but it is a a great way to top off mixers or some desserts.I tried it in a few cocktails, using about 3 cherries per drink along with about a tablespoon of syrup and it was excellent. Again, it won't compliment every variety of spirits out there but it works well in your typical clear ones and obviously whiskey.I didn't have much to experiment with desserts but I did have a single of plain cheesecake that looked pretty boring. A few cherries with the stems removed and a small drizzle of syrup made it absolutely to die for. The syrup isn't really thick enough for this sort of application, but a small amount was good to help with the flavor and not make it too soggy. As you can imagine, the syrup is very sticky so you will likely be wiping the jar down here and there. All in all, I found it to be a nice departure from your regular style cherries. Much more of a nuanced flavor; dark and semisweet. Recommended ?Great taste! Delicious! They go great in my old fashioned.I really enjoy the taste of these Whiskey Flavored cherries. They are what maraschino cherries would taste like if they grew up. I like maraschino cherries but they are candy sweet and I'd only have them in a cocktail. These have a really good flavor and I found myself enjoying them by themselves or over ice cream. I mixed the juice in my ginger beer and it was a nice twist. The cherries are a softer than maraschino cherries which I think makes them more versatile. My wife and I didn't want to stop eating them! These taste amazing! Not too sweet. The subtle whiskey flavor adds a depth to the flavor of these cherries you won't be able to get enough of! The taste starts off with deep whiskey notes that quickly mellow and round out into a predominate cherry flavor at the end. I can't wait to use these on my deserts or beverages! We had to force ourselves to stop eating them... 10/10 amazing product!
